ROC or Registrar of Companies is an office under the Indian Ministry of corporate affairs. It deals with the administration of the Companies Act, 2013. Under section 609 of this act, ROC has been appointed in various states and union territories with the primary duty of ensuring that companies and LLPs are registered and comply with statutory requirements under the Companies Act in the respective states and union territories. The central government exercises administrative control over the offices of ROC through the respective Regional Directors. This is why it is important to comply with all applicable compliances to avoid fines and penalties. The registration records are available for inspection on payment of a prescribed fee by the members of public.
